Topdressing is the process of adding nutrients, reduce soil compactation and aerating (adding Oxygen) of and to the soil. It allows the easy creation of a seed bed to add new growth and facilitate new root development. Top dressing is the true way of natural or organic lawn care.

In the Northern Hemisphere fall is the best time to top dress a grassy area. The turf area has the whole winter to settle down, the root growth is optimal, since the grass plant is in recession ( PLEASE DO NOT RUN OVER YOUR LAWN WITH YOUR FOUR WHEELER. During the growing season the plant develops leaves to absorb the maximum of CO2 to further the photosynthesis and in th cooler season the root development is number one priority of the grass plant.
